Sunday, May 10, is Mother’s Day and the museum is making arrangements for you and Mom to make the most of it.

Lunch at the Honolulu Museum of Art Café:
Normally closed on Sundays, the café will open specially for Mother’s Day, with seatings at 11am, 11:45am, noon, 1pm, 1:15pm, 1:30pm. The café will serve its regular menu, and have a drink special—the mimosa, naturally. To make reservations for the café call 532-8734.

Give her all the flowers she could ever want
Combine lunch with a tour of Shangri La: The Flower Show. This Garden Club of America event—one of three held nationwide this year—showcases world-class arrangements by 174 floral and horticultural designers. The flower show takes its theme from Doris Duke’s Shangri La: Architecture, Landscape and Islamic Art—another must-see.

Tranquil art-filled setting for quality time
Of course, all the galleries will be open for regular viewing. And if you haven’t had a chance to see the museum’s new flowerbeds and stonework in Central Courtyard, you’ll have plenty of time to stroll around, pull up a chair, and take in the ambiance.

Special gift with lunch at Spalding House Café
Make a reservation for you and Mom at the Spalding House Café—all Moms dining at the café will receive a special origami flower with a note to redeem at the Spalding House Shop at a discount and/or gift. Then take in the exhibition Less = More, sketch with Orvis Artist in the Museum Kahiau Beamer, and stroll the lush gardens.
