July 5, 10am–noon, free

The Portraiture Gallery is one of the museum’s most popular stops—there is something about looking into a subject’s face that viewers are drawn to. From da Vinci’s Mona Lisa to Elizabeth Peyton’s gems of Liam Gallagher, portraits and busts are some of the most famous art works in the world.

To add a new dimension of understanding to this favorite genre, the museum has invited nine artists to sketch a model in the Portraiture Gallery on our next Free Wednesday. We encourage you to visit the famed orange room to watch the process unfold.
