About two weeks ago, we announced the exciting news that our Museum Shop will carry Masami Teraoka’s new art publication Floating Realities: The Art of Masami Teraoka, which captures decades of the artist’s expansive and often provocative work. The book title comes from an exhibition of the same name that was on view the Begovich Gallery at California State University Fullerton in 2017.
Well, we have even more exciting news for you. On Saturday, Jan. 5, Teraoka will be at HoMA in person for a one-time book signing in the Museum Shop from 11am to 1pm.
“We are so very honored to offer a chance to meet one of Hawaii’s most prolific artists–Masami Teraoka,” HoMA Shop manager Cori Mackie says. “We receive many requests for anything new regarding his work, and Teraoka fans would agree that this publication is long overdue. A concise collection of his art, this book is loaded with color plates from the 1970s to his most current work.”
The Shop carries both the standard edition for $75 and the special edition, which features a clamshell fabric box with a silkscreened title and bone closure, for $150.
