This probably comes as no surprise to you, but museums are chock full of history. At HoMA, it’s not just the artworks that have a colorful, storied past but also the museum itself. (After all, HoMA is 91 years old.) But you may not hear all of the rich stories while wandering through our galleries.
Since we’re blessed to have such a wonderful team of docents who are dedicated to educating and engaging museum guests through informative tours, we thought we’d pick their brains for fun facts that the average visitor wouldn’t come across. The goal? To give guests a more fulfilling experience here at HoMA.
In a weekly social media series starting next week, we’re going to be highlighting various docents whose brains are a goldmine of historical and art-related facts (like who was the surrealist artist who visited the museum in the 70s?). Follow the series with the hashtag #AskaHoMAdocent.
Keep your eyes peeled on our Instagram and Facebook accounts—and of course, say hi to a docent if you ever see them around! You might just earn yourself a fun fact in real time.
