It’s official…even Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia, is excited about Wikipedia Loves Art. In case you missed our earlier post, Wikipedia Loves Art is a scavenger hunt and free content photography contest aimed at illustrating Wikipedia articles. Imagine, your photo may be the official selection for a Wikipedia page.

The Honolulu Academy of Arts is one of a number of museums worldwide participating in the event on February 14, 15 and 27 (including during the first ARTafterDARK of 2009 “Mughal”). With photography not usually being allowed in the Academy’s galleries, this is an opportunity to explore the Academy’s permanent collection in a whole new way.

Winners take home more than just bragging rights…prizes include Robert Frank’s “The Americans” photography book, 2 Friends of Film Friday memberships, and 4 passes to ARTafterDARK.
