The Academy is closed to the public on Mondays but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing going on. Today it’s a hive of activity. Stuart Yamane (in white shirt) is here shooting Leland Miyano’s “Historia Naturalia et Artificialia” exhibition for the PBS Hawaii program “Artists,” which will air in August. The show profiles local artists in different disciplines. Also in the program will be Maika‘i Tubbs, who, when he isn’t doing his art, works in the Academy’s Education Department organizing the always fun Bank of Hawaii Family Sundays.

Jean Shin started installing “Unraveling” with her team of volunteers today. That’s Jean on the yellow ladder. The guy in the hat is Mat Kubo. “One Way or Another: Asian American Art Now” is shaping up beautifully. It opens on Wednesday.
