As HAA’s registrar I often escort our artwork to foreign places.  In October I was very lucky to be part of the team to escort art from China for our current show “Masterpieces of Landscape Paintings from the Forbidden City.” I had never been to mainland China before and it was simply an awesome experience to be invited to work inside the Forbidden City, now also known as the Palace Museum. I took this panoramic photo from Jingshan Park where the hill was created from the earth dug out to make the vast moat surrounding the entire complex. Why is it called “Forbidden City?” Because you once needed the emperor’s permission to enter or leave.
