Artist Aaron Padilla celebrates his opening at Town in Kaimuki alongside friend and fellow artist Maika`i TubbsThanks to Town restaurant’s after-hours exhibition opening (10pm to midnight!) on Feb. 21, an impressive crowd gathered to see the new exhibition of works by Aaron Padilla, the Academy’s Assistant Curator of Education, and Karen Wolfe. The show was curated by Academy Associate Director, Corporate Relations, Natalie Aczon. Padilla’s woodworks and paintings of muted earth tones completely match the space—knowing Aaron, I have a feeling this was planned. It was a night of great art, good conversation and püpü provided by Town chef-owner Ed Kenney.

The show is up through March 31—check it out if you get the chance. My favorite Padilla work is the collection of masterfully crafted sculptural woodworks on the back wall. The exhibition is part of Town’s “art@town” series, which began in 2005 to support local artists. All works are for sale. Coming up nextWoodworks by Aaron Padillamonth: Maika‘i Tubbs and Otto.
